Council was established by Order No. 601, signed on 19 January 1979 by the Minister of Defense and published on 20 Februaty 1979 in the Spanish official gazette, No. 44, pp. 4,468 (text), and reformed by Order No. 98, signed on 11 October 1993 by the Minister of Defense and published on 21 October 1993 in the Spanish official gazette, No. 252, pp. 29,671-29,675 (text).
The aim of the Council is promoting sports within the Armed Forces. It was dependent
to the former State Secretariat of Military Management, currently the
Undersecretariat of Defense of the Ministry of Defense.

The flag of the Armed Forces' Physical Education and Sports Superior Council was approved by Order No. 33, signed on 11 May 2015 by the Minister of Defense and published on 20 May 2015 in the official gazette of the Ministry of Defense, No. 96, Section V, p. 11,130.
1. Description
Rectangular flag of dark blue color with a yellow border; in its center a badge formed by a low golden sword, bordered by two laurel branches of sinople (green), highlighted by five annulets gules (red) interlaced and placed in pentagonal form, highlighted by a silver annulets, inside, the flag of Spain with the national coat of arms; all surrounded with the inscription in silver CONSEJO SUPERIOR EDUCACIÓN FÍSICA Y DEPORTES F.A.S. 2. of the flag as 2:3. The height of the emblem, writing excluded, is half
the flag's hoist. The width of the yellow border is 1/20 of the flag's
